For Physicians: How to Participate
Make the most of your physician profile
Eligible physicians manage their own data in the physician referral service. The data you enter is used to help patients find a physician — here on our web site, and through our call center. Many patients search by clinical interest; it is important to make that section as accurate and complete as possible.
Who is eligible for the Swedish referral service?
Physicians with Active status on the Swedish Medical Staff in good standing who accept office visits and keep office hours are eligible for the Swedish referral service. Please contact Medical Staff Services at 206-386-2550 for questions about your status or to learn how to change your status. All participating physicians and/or their designated practice managers have access to a secure Web site where they may create, edit or deactivate their own profiles.
How to Log In
If you are eligible (see above) for the Swedish Referral Service, here is the login information you need to access your profile:
-
Go to the secure Web site at the URL: www.swedish.org/physician
-
Enter your user name, which is your first initial and last name (all one word, lower case, e.g., Joe Smith’s user name would be jsmith).
-
Enter your password (the last four digits of your social security number)
We strongly recommend giving your login information to your clinic manager to update the office information on your profile, such as office hours, any address/phone changes, etc.
If you need help

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Who is in charge of updates to my profile?
A. It is the physician’s responsibility to update and maintain the accuracy of his or her profile. If you wish, you can have your practice manager or someone else on your office staff do it for you.
Q. I submitted changes. Why don't I see them yet?
A. Profile edits are reviewed by Medical Staff Services and published every week. Please allow one week for publishing.
Q. How can I get the most “hits” to my page?
A. Potential patients usually search for doctors by Specialty or Clinical Interests. Please make sure these fields are complete and accurate. Your specialty should be your primary field of expertise – ideally you should just have one specialty and as many clinical interests as appropriate.
Q. What happens if I don’t update my profile regularly?
A. Profiles that are found to have incorrect information will be deactivated until the physician or his/her office staff log in and update the profile. Once approved, the profile will be reactivated.
Q. What are online appointment requests?
A. The Online Appointment Request feature allows site visitors to request an appointment by filling out an online form, which gets submitted to the doctor’s office electronically. This is an optional feature.
If you choose to participate, you can sign up online via the physician profile tool at www.swedish.org/physician. There, you will choose whether you wish to receive requests by fax or e-mail. You will also have to read and agree to the terms of participation in this service. This includes agreeing that your front-office staff will be responsible for retrieving the requests and returning each patient’s call by the next business day. Physicians who do not meet the service expectations of the online appointment request service may have the service deactivated from their online profile.
Q. What is the "eCoupon" offer and what is expected of my office?
A. Swedish offers a free gift to patients as incentive to keep an appointment with a new physician. This is also a way of tracking visits that can be tied to the Swedish Web site. There is no cost for you to participate in the offer. Patients click the "get a free gift" link on your profile page, print the eCoupon and give it to your staff at their appointment. Your staff needs only to stamp the coupon with your office name/number and fax it to 206-386-2769. Nothing more is required of your office; Corporate Communications sends the gift directly to the patient.
Q. How can I get my photo included on my profile page?
A. E-mail your photo to Tracy Tardiff tracy.tardiff@swedish.org in Swedish's Corporate Communications Department. .
If you do not have a current photo, you may have one taken at Swedish Medical Photography at (206) 386-2371. Doctors can opt-out of using their photo if they desire by clicking off the “show photo” button.
Q. In what order will the physician names be displayed?
A. No physician on the referral service receives preferential treatment with regards to referrals. For Web site referrals, physician names for each specialty are displayed in alphabetical order.
Q. What if forget my username or password?
A. Contact Tracy Tardiff tracy.tardiff@swedish.org in Swedish's Corporate Communications Department.
